ECR Editorial Board – Call for Members

History is advertising for a new ECR Board. Joining the Board offers ECRs an opportunity to get some hands-on experience in the work of running a journal as well as offering them access to a supportive community of scholars at a key moment in their careers. The ECR Board is supported by the Historical Association, and is run under the guidance of Professor Becky Taylor, Editor-in-Chief of History. A small amount of funds are available to support initiatives proposed by Board members.

Our outgoing ECR Board not only took on some of the normal work you would expect in running a journal – finding reviewers for articles and reviewing pieces themselves – but also wrote, commissioned work for our new and increasingly popular ‘state of the field’ articles, edited two Special Issues, and worked closely with our ECR intern to create material for the journal’s website and build its social media presence. New Board members would be expected to build on this record, and will also be supported to take forward their own ideas.

Eligibility

Each cohort serves for three years and the new members will sit from 1st January 2022 until 31st December 2024. Board members are chosen across a wide geographical, chronological and methodological spread of historical expertise, and should have submitted their PhD and be within three years of their viva. Applications will also be considered from applicants who, due to maternity leave, caring responsibilities or other personal circumstances, are further than three years from their viva.

Application Process

Applicants should send to historyeditors@uea.ac.uk a 2-page CV and a one page covering letter outlining their interest in serving on the Board; what skills they might bring with them; and any ideas they might wish to follow through during their tenure should they be selected. Closing date is 4pm on 30th November.
